"Imagine a world without photography" - Bernice Abbott

Photography is quickly growing in popularity. In the age of social media it has never been easier to share moments and creative art. Photography software programs are keeping pace with the advancements in camera technology and are designed to help beginners through advanced professionals. Versatile photo editors offer an amazing array of creative tools and features.

Most photo editing software programs come with the basic tools necessary for simple photo editing. Some of the better photo editing software options offer a broader range of tools, with virtually limitless options to express your creativity.

It is also very important to stay organized or you may quickly become overwhelmed. With digital photography, it's easy to take thousands of photos in a very short amount of time. The best photo editing software includes the tools necessary to make this job a lot easier.

Photography Editing Classes

Adobe Lightroom

Class 101 Adobe Lightroom for Photographers: This hands-on class will take an in-depth look at the industry’s premier photo workflow software Adobe Lightroom. It provides the organization, image adjustment and output features demanded by photographers who catalog and process images in volume, or just want to spend more time with the camera than the computer. Lightroom’s smooth interface, quality of adjustment tools and logical workflow have made it one of the most widely used image processing program on any platform.

Class 901 Introduction to Adobe Creative Cloud For Photography:  In this lecture class we will be demonstrating the Adobe Cloud software package for photographers which includes the latest full version of Photoshop (not Elements) and Lightroom. We will be discussing their fee structure, recent innovations, user support and training, saving to the cloud and sharing. Demonstrations of Photoshop and Lightroom features and compatibility will be included.

Class 1001 Introduction to Google/Nik for Photography: A lecture introduction to the photo editing capabilities of the Nik Collection. The Nik Collection is comprised of seven desktop plug-ins that provide a powerful range of photo editing capabilities -- from filter applications that improve color correction, to retouching and creative effects, to image sharpening that brings out all the hidden details, to the ability to make adjustments to the color and tonality of images. Photo enthusiasts all over the world use the Nik Collection to get the best out of their images.

Discussion will focus on how to download, setup and use the Nik plug-in application in conjunction with Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop Elements. The class is intended as an introduction to the overall capabilities of the Nik software rather than an in-depth study of editing techniques

Workshops in Photography

Photography workshops are held Computer Room 1  and are free and open to all Computer Club members as space allows. They are intended to provide a monthly forum to discuss and explore the interrelationship of digital photography and the use of the computer.  A discussion leader will present a topic and often guide a hands-on review by participants. An open exchange of ideas and information will be emphasized.

Membership in the Westbrook Village Photography Club is NOT required, however presentation topics will often be an extension of their activities.
